A Word From Our President

This is an exciting time in the history of our Chapter. We continue to make great strides in recruiting, retention and National recognition. The Edmund Couto Chapter is one of the forerunners of the information superhighway within our association. We have faced the challenges of designing and implementing our very own Internet Web Page that is successfully linked to the National Web Page. This web site offers you, the membership, a unique method of reaching out to a host of other Navy related web sites with a simple click of the mouse.

Through the ease of communicating via the Internet, we can all correspond more easily with our elected officials for free. It may not always be free, but for today it is. Take advantage of it. There are a multitude of possibilities associated with utilizing this medium as we go forth and continue to grow. One of the foremost features is the placement of the Chapter newsletter, The Scuttlebutt on the web. This is a cost savings initiative and also will assist in cutting down on the amount of time necessary to handle each newsletter one by one at the kitchen table. Those of you having computers available and choose to receive the newsletter via e-mail, will receive it more expediently.

You may have noticed also, that I am the current President of the newly formed Virtual Chapter intended to be made up of those volunteers exploring futuristic ways of conducting NERA business. All of these innovative ideas are a result of a few individuals trying to make our association more attractive to the younger junior enlisted personnel. Those individuals have grown up in the computer age and it is our belief that we have to offer methods the entire their membership.
